To see the whole picture, you can also take a hike along the Honoapiilani Highway and enjoy the view. 2. Beach Bumming in Kekaha Kai State Park Kekaha Kai State Park is located on Hawaii Big Island. With a great location, you can see the ocean from almost everywhere in the park. Here, you can enjoy a nice view and get away from the busy life. In this article, we’ll show you what you can do in this park. It has a beautiful beach, where you can enjoy swimming and surfing. 3. The Green Sand Beach The Green Sand Beach is located on the south side of the island. There are many beautiful beaches around the island, and the Green Sand Beach is a good place to visit when you’re looking for a relaxing spot. It’s a wonderful beach, and you can easily find plenty of shade to sit under. When you’re here, you’ll also see lots of sea turtles. It’s a great place to relax. The Green Sand Beach is also a favorite destination for surfers, and the waves are always consistent. You’ll find a lot of visitors and locals here. It’s a great place to visit when you’re looking for a quiet beach. 4. Snorkeling next to Captain Cook Captain Cook is a famous Hawaiian fisherman who discovered the islands. Many people believe that he is the father of the Hawaiian people. He has a statue on Oahu Island and is the namesake of the largest city on this island, Honolulu. His life is a wonderful story, and it would be great to experience it. So, if you’re going to Hawaii Big Island, you should definitely visit his memorial on Maui Island. There are several snorkel spots close to the memorial. One of them is called “Hawaiian’s Hump,” and you can go there by boat. 5. Exploring the Kilauea Volcano Hawaii is famous for its active volcanoes, and this one in particular has been erupting since 1983. However, it was only in the last six months that the volcano became extremely active, resulting in a major eruption on May 3, 2018. The lava flows destroyed at least 20 homes and buried a road, and scientists believe that more homes could be buried. There is no danger of an imminent eruption at the moment, but the volcanic activity could continue for weeks or months. This is the reason why it’s important to prepare before you go. 6. Staring at a River of Fresh Lava One of the most amazing things to do on Hawaii Big Island is watching the lava flow into the ocean. Although it is very scary, it is also a great experience for everyone. There are many ways you can observe the lava flow. You can watch from the top of a volcano, or you can simply sit at a lookout. The best spot to watch the lava flow is on Mauna Loa. When the lava flows, you can see it start at the bottom of the volcano and rise up the mountain. You’ll see a huge explosion, and then a huge column of lava will slowly move down the mountain. You can also see the lava flow at the sea level, which is quite fascinating. The lava flows into the ocean, and it creates a river of lava. As the lava moves down the shore, it can reach the ocean floor. Lava can sometimes even hit the water and create a wave. 7. Getting Close to Nature at Waipio Valley Waipio Valley is the largest protected area in Hawaii. It is located at the end of Waipio Road and offers spectacular views. It towers above the city, and you’ll find it by looking up and to the left when you’re driving on the H-1 freeway. Mauna Kea is also home to the largest observatory in the world. When you visit, you’ll find that you can see the full moon on clear nights, and you can watch the stars rotate around the Earth. While you’re on Mauna Kea, you can also view the southern hemisphere.
