The setbacks we experienced as a result of Covid have affected how we approach fitness in the last few years.

Clubs, trainers, and other fitness professionals all over the world had to shift their focus away from traditional fitness methods into online or virtual fitness experiences.

With that in mind, here are the top fitness trends for the year.

1. Online training

Perhaps the most significant benefit of the Covid-19 pandemic, online training has increased dramatically in the last year, with no signs of slowing. Online training is available at any time, in almost any location, and via live streaming or recordings.

Many facilities and trainers have expanded their offerings to include online training since it allows exercisers and clients to stay connected and involved.

2. Soft tissue therapy

Soft tissue therapy, known as ‘myotherapy’ or ‘muscle therapy,’ is a type of physical medicine and rehabilitation that treats musculoskeletal disorders.

Soft tissue therapy uses a number of hands-on techniques (including soft tissue release and myofascial release) to treat pain or movement problems.

Soft tissue treatment has a lot of advantages. It may be used to speed up recovery and lessen pain after an injury. It may also help in the relief of headaches and pain caused by daily activities, exercise, sports, and muscular overuse.

3. Virtual training

Virtual training, which is different from online training, is a group training routine that people can follow on giant screens at gyms.

This type of training attracts fewer exercisers than live workout groups, but it allows people from a variety of fitness backgrounds to join at their own speed.

4. Exercise is the new medicine

Our next trend is a global campaign to encourage GPs and healthcare workers to assess patients’ physical activity levels. In these visits, they will make recommendations.

Exercise Is Medicine (EIM) is a movement that promotes the idea that physical activity is linked to good health. This means exercise may play an important role in the prevention and treatment of many medical disorders.

5. Outdoor activities and exercises

This trend may have gone up the list as a result of Covid. Small group walks, group rides, and organised hiking groups have grown popular among many exercise lovers.

6. HIIT (high intensity interval training)

This type of exercise is still popular in gyms around the world and has been on top fitness trend lists for a few years now.

HIIT workouts are made up of bursts of high-intensity activity followed by short intervals of rest, making them excellent for completing effective workouts in 30 minutes or less.

HIIT combines cardio with strength training or a combination of the two.
