Wimbledon 2022 is in full swing with Rafael Nadal not missing any beat after his three-year absence from The Championships and Carlos Alcaraz not allowing lack of experience on grass courts to affect him. Meanwhile, ladies No. Iga Swiatek, the No. 1 seed, lost her 37-match winning streak to Alize Cornet in the third round.

Novak Djokovic also has a great week.

On Friday, Novak Djokovic continued his cruise at the All England Club by defeating Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 6-3. In the third round, he won 6-4. The world No. After defeating Soonwoon Kwan on Centre Court, 3 became the first player to register at least 80 victories at each of the four Grand Slam events. Tim Van Rijthoven will be taking on Djokovic on Sunday in the Round of 16.

Alcaraz, the Spanish star at 19 and No.

After beating Oscar Otte 6-1, 6-2, Alcaraz, the 19-year-old Spanish star, became the youngest man to reach round four since 2011. It was only his third grass tournament. Alcaraz will face Jannik Sinner (20 years old) on Sunday.

Swiatek’s stunning loss to Cornet in straight set — 6-4 and 6-2 — was an amazing result for women’s tennis. The world No. The world No. 1 had won 37 consecutive matches. She also won the six previous tournaments she entered, including victories at Qatar, Indian Wells and Miami, Stuttgart and Rome, as well as the French Open at Roland Garros. Cornet’s win placed her in Wimbledon’s fourth round for the first time since 2014. In the third round for ladies, Amanda Anisimova defeated Coco Gauff.

Serena Williams was on the court Tuesday for the first time since the 2021 Wimbledon installment.

After suffering a hamstring injury in her first-round match at The All England Club last June, Williams had not played since. Williams’ match against Harmony Tan ended in a close match, but Tan won 7-5, 6-1, 7-6 (10-7) and took three hours and 11 mins to reach the final. Williams was forced to retire at the All England Club in the first round last year, her only previous first-round exit. However, this was the first time Williams has lost a match at Wimbledon and the second time she’s been beaten in the first round (2012 French Open).

The top seeds are generally doing well but Julie Niemeier upset No. Anett Kontaveit was the 2nd seed and won 6-4, 6-1 in Wednesday’s second round. Kontaveith is currently suffering from COVID-19 long-term side effects. Ugo Humbert, the men’s champion, fought hard to defeat No. Casper Ruud was defeated by Ugo Humbert, who won by scores of 3-6. Even more impressive, he did it after forgot to bring a racket.

Another Wimbledon headline was Marin Cilic pulling out of the competition, although he is not a favourite, but he is definitely a strong dark horse.

No. 8 seed Matteo Berrettini was the 2021 Wimbledon runner up. The tournament does not allow players of Russian or Belarusian citizenship. Wimbledon took this decision in April following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Some of the best players in tennis will be unable to attend Wimbledon due to the ban. This includes the men’s world No. 1. 1 Daniil Medvedev, and the women’s world no. 6 Aryna Sabahlenka
