One of the most frustrating things about unwanted hair on the body is how to get rid of it safely and effectively, leaving behind no telltale signs that hair once grew there. While there are ways to remove hair safely, are they always as effective as you would like? Do they leave behind any trace of hair growing there? Here are five ways to remove unwanted hair, some more effective than others, but all are used today with some amount of success. While not listed in any specific order, these are the most commonly used ways to rid yourself of hair you simply just want gone!

1. Shaving

Most men today shave their facial hair regularly so that they aren’t walking into work or any social setting with scruff on their faces. Unless they are purposely trying to grow out a beard, mustache, or sideburns, they will use various types of razors. Unfortunately, women seeking to remove unwanted facial hair can’t achieve the level of success they are after, so they will almost always use one or more of the methods mentioned below.

2. Laser

This is one of the most effective ways of removing unwanted facial hair. Although it is used less frequently on other areas of the body, laser hair removal is safe and longer lasting than any of the other methods mentioned here. It is a process whereby a light beam is sent to the hair follicle, causing damage that either kills it or at the very least, hinders regrowth. It is one of the most requested hair removal services offered at medically supervised cosmetic treatment centers like the Med Lounge in Ladera Ranch, California.

3. Plucking

How many times have you sat there laboriously plucking your eyebrows only to suffer more than a twinge of pain and a bout of redness that never seems to disappear quickly enough? It’s a painstaking effort that needs to be repeated regularly and somehow it never quite seems that you’ve achieved what you were after. There always seems to be those few stray hairs that cause an annoyance throughout the day until you get back to your tweezers and mirror.

4. Depilatory Creams

These have caused quite a controversy over the years and many women are still afraid of using these products on their legs. Depilatory creams are only recommended for certain areas of the body and should not be used in women who have sensitive skin or allergies. Are they safe? The jury is still out on that one but according to the FDA, there are products on the market that haven’t been submitted for approval.

5. Body Waxing

Body waxing is also quite effective but not quite as effective as laser hair removal. It can be used on the face and legs, or really any area of the body that can be smothered in the warm wax. It can be a bit tricky for large areas of the body such as the legs or chest, but as long as you get the temperature right (in the heated products) there should be no cause for concern.

Of the five ways to remove unwanted hair, the one trending highest today is laser hair removal and for a very good reason. It works! Laser hair removal may or may not prevent future hair growth by killing the follicle, but at the very least, the results will be longer lasting than any of the other four.
