Mirrors will add beauty to our home and they will help us to look beautiful all the time. But they also gather dust easily, and the most irritating part is the streaks that form on the mirror after cleaning it. It is better to use household products to clean the mirrors, as the overuse of cleaning solutions and detergents available makes the mirror look foggy over time. If we are using the right kind of products, we can have a stain-free and shiny mirror. Follow the below-mentioned home remedies to clean mirrors.

Baking Soda

This is one of the best home remedies to clean mirrors. Baking soda will help you give the mirror the shine they require. Take a small amount of baking soda and put it over a damp cloth or sponge. Rub it over the mirror in a circular motion for a round or two. Then leave it there for a few minutes. Now take a clean cloth and wipe the mirror with water to remove the baking soda off the mirror. A sparkling shiny mirror will be visible to you.

Distilled Water

Always use distilled water instead of hard water, when you are cleaning mirrors. Distilled water doesn’t have minerals in it, unlike hard water. Thus, by cleaning with distilled water you will be able to avoid the streaks that become visible after cleaning. So, use distilled water to wipe the dirt and dust on the mirror away.

Vinegar

White vinegar is a perfect cleaning agent. It can give your mirror a perfect look. Before using vinegar you should know about the dos and don’ts of using vinegar. Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the mix on the mirror surface and rub it gently using a clean towel.

If the smell of the vinegar persists, you can wipe the mirror surface again with clean water to ensure the removal of the odour. This solution can easily remove any dirt or grime accumulated on the mirror. If it is too much dirt to be managed with household products, we can use cleaning solutions suggested by house cleaning services.

Shaving Cream

Shaving cream can be helpful in defogging bathroom mirrors and also in cleaning mirrors in general. Spread a thin layer of shaving cream foam on the mirror evenly. And let it sit there for some time. Then wipe that away with a clean and soft cloth. These will remove the foggy look of the mirror and it won’t get foggy for a long time. Shaving cream creates a protective layer over the glass and this keeps it from getting foggy. This can be also used to defog glasses and windows.

Newspaper

A newspaper is an effective and cheap way to clean mirrors. Crush the newspaper into medium sizes by placing it in your hand. Soak the newspaper lightly in the water and rub in slow circles across the mirror. Water alone will be sufficient to clean the mirror surface, you can add vinegar if required. This will give you a smooth and clean mirror. But make sure the newspaper is good quality and won’t leave any ink behind.
