The UAE (United Arab Emirates) is known for their glamorous image of sleek skyscrapers, luxury shopping, and fine dining in the setting of traditional Emirati culture. Most of this is centered around the capital, Dubai, which houses the world’s largest mall and tallest building. This is a place that truly glitters and shines. Although a one week visit is not enough to see everything this beautiful country has to offer, it’s a good start. Let’s see what there is to discover.

Experiencing the UAE

Dubai is the capital of the UAE and has fantastic amenities that sets it apart from other modern metropolitan cities around the world. It is the most populated city in the country and has a keen focus on tourism and luxury. Many foreigners and expats work and live in the city and people from around the world come here to experience the sights and sounds of this unique Middle Eastern city.

With that said, there are other cities and extraordinary nature to explore in the UAE besides just Dubai. Desert sand dunes, mountains, gardens, markets, beaches, and more are accessible by car. Public transportation is impeccable within cities and there are plenty of taxis and other methods of transportation for easy travel.

Shopping

Of course, one cannot speak of Dubai and the UAE without mentioning the shopping. In Dubai, shopping is world class. We’re talking luxury brands everywhere. The Dubai Mall is the biggest mall in the world and occupies 12 million square feet of space. There are over 1,000 different retail and dining options available with more than 200 of the best luxury brands like Louboutin, Balenciaga, Chanel, and many more.

Then, there is the Mall of the Emirates, another top shopping destination in Dubai. With more than 560 shops, there are luxury boutiques, high end designers, and even an indoor ski slope. There are also more traditional markets as well like Old Souk, where one can find textiles and souvenirs for home. Needless to say, travelers will have a hard time on a budget while in Dubai.

Recreational Activities

Dubai has a plethora of recreational activities to get the body moving and heart pumping. Sitting on a beautiful coastline, there are water sports, yacht clubs, and plenty of recreational activities available for the adventurous. Take a jet ski tour and see Dubai from a new perspective. Or hop on a catamaran and sunbathe on the deck for a few hours. For the brave souls among us, you can even bungee jump off Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, or skydive over the Palm Islands.

Perhaps you would prefer to head into the desert and speed through the dunes in an SUV or quad. If you are particularly fit, you can also cycle the Al Qudra Bike Track and explore the desert on your own time. Lastly, Dubai has excellent golfing available. Go when the weather is optimal and you’ll experience fantastic golfing conditions at amazing courses.
