These SOPs are a set of procedures that health teams use during or after an outbreak to follow a specific course of action. In this case, they’re meant to ensure that the spread of COVID-19 is contained at the airport and does not spread further into Seychelles or other parts of the world.
First, if you are traveling from a country outside Seychelles (or any infected country), you may be subject to quarantine upon arrival at Port Victoria International Airport in Mahé. If you have been exposed to someone who has contracted COVID-19 and are not showing symptoms yet, or if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 but have not completed your full vaccination series yet (two weeks), you will be quarantined until your blood tests come back negative for COVID-19 antibodies, which show that your body has developed immunity against infection with this virus strain after being exposed through vaccination or exposure through contact with another person who has contracted it as well as being quarantined until they have shown no signs of illness after two weeks following their exposure

What is a PCR test?
PCR testing is an in vitro test that detects the presence of the Covid-19 virus by amplifying any DNA extracted from blood or other bodily fluids and detecting it using molecular probes. The primary benefit of this type of testing is that it can detect very low levels of viral RNA in samples, which means it can be used as an early warning system for identifying people who are infected with COVID-19 but have not yet experienced symptoms. It may also help us understand how long people remain infectious before they develop signs or symptoms and enable us to better monitor their risk of transmitting the disease through mosquito bites.

The Ministry of Health is advising travelers who have traveled to or through affected areas or countries to seek medical advice before traveling. This will help determine whether they require additional preventive measures against COVID-19, such as vaccination and/or anti-viral treatment.

Travelers arriving in Seychelles from any country with elevated temperatures (above 38 degrees Celsius) will not be allowed entry into Seychelles until they are symptom-free for 48 hours after their arrival.
Those who need immediate medical attention may return on an emergency basis under isolation conditions at their own cost, provided that all travel arrangements have been pre-arranged with relevant authorities in Seychelles before departure from their country of origin.
Travelers presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 at the airport may be subject to further screening or testing.

Seychelles has been at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have reached Seychelles in March 2020. The country remained on 11 total cases from 18 May to 27 June 2020, with no active cases recorded in that period, but cases have been increasing rapidly since then. The country recorded its first COVID-19-related death on 3 January 2021.
The Seychelles Department of Health has released a travel advisory for visitors to Seychelles. The advisory recommends that visitors take precautions regarding their health and well-being while visiting Seychelles. The advisory also discusses what to do if you or someone you know becomes sick with COVID-19. It also notes that if you are planning on traveling to other countries, there are additional recommendations for other destinations that may be affected by COVID-19.
In addition to these general recommendations, it is important to note that there are specific regulations regarding hotels in Seychelles. Hotels are required by law to have an isolation room available upon request (as long as they have a medical staff).
- The Seychelles government has issued several new regulations in the wake of COVID-19. One of those is that all hotels must provide free masks to their guests, as well as free hand sanitizer and tissues. There will be no charge for these amenities, but they must be provided.
- All hotels are required to have COVID-19-ready staff members on-site at all times, including weekends and holidays. This includes front desk personnel, maintenance workers, housekeeping staff and more.
- Make sure to ask your hotel if they have any special rules or procedures regarding travel during COVID-19—that could affect you getting in safely or staying for an extended period!
