Temba Bavuma was chuffed up to bits after scoring a crucial hundred against West Indies. This was his second hundred and was with a gap of 7 long years. It was an emotional moment for the Proteas skipper. According to a latest cricket news, Temba Bavuma, the captain of the South African Test team, expressed his hope that more black cricketers will join the Proteas as a result of his century against the West Indies.

One of their key goals, according to the 32-year-old, was to motivate the upcoming Proteas cricket players.

“With everything I do, there is always that angle, that perspective, the important and significant one that it is. I think us playing for the Proteas, is about inspiring the next bunch of cricketers. Me, obviously being a black African cricketer, is allowing a lot more black African batters to come through, and really dream to come and play for the Proteas. To have their names entrenched in the history books.”

Bavuma said that he wanted to bat as long as possible and get a huge lead.

“My emotions were also starting to pick up. And then I got a ball outside off stump and I was never hitting it on the ground. I am going to try and bat as long as I can. I need the rest tonight and come back fresh tomorrow. I am certainly not going to give my wicket away at any point in time. If that opportunity is there I am definitely going for it.”

Bavuma walked into bat when South Africa was in a spot of bother at 8 for 2. He said that he is ready to soak in pressure and walk in during such situations.

“I always find myself in situations where I am coming in at No.5 or 6, and it’s 20 for 4 or 10 for 2 or whatever it is, and you really have to try to soak in the pressure,” he said.”You just have to try to absorb and when the opportunity comes, try and release. I think I’ve done that fairly well in my career, albeit I didn’t have any big scores to back it up. Walking in that situation is something that mentally I am accustomed to. My games also leans towards that.” . Follow Cricadium for the latest cricket updates, today match prediction, live scores, and fantasy tips.
