Symptoms of carb intolerance are frequently overlooked, and they can even be misdiagnosed as signs of other issues. This condition develops when your body is unable to digest foods high in starch or sugar, such as processed foods, some fruits, and milk. And, as it turns out, this is fairly common, particularly in children, and can be quite distressing.

Read on to know the symptoms that show your body doesn’t tolerate sugar very well.

  1. Bloating

Bloating is a common indicator of food intolerance. Even though it’s normal to feel bloated after consuming a wide variety of foods or consuming a substantial meal, you should keep an eye out for sugars in particular. Sweeteners are other products that can be used to mask the presence of sugars. Corn syrups, brown sugar, molasses, and even honey are examples of such sweeteners. Therefore, when buying any nutritional food, any whey protein concentrate or other protein supplements, lookout for the sugar type and quantity.

  1. Stomach Cramps

One of the symptoms of a sugar intolerance that most people experience is stomach cramps. Eat plenty of fresh produce to stay healthy, but some of it, such as starchy vegetables, can throw off your digestion because they are high in carbohydrates. Corn, quinoa, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, oats, and mangoes are a few of the options. Of course, cramps alone doesn’t mean that you are unable to digest carbohydrates, particularly sugars. This problem is frequently accompanied by additional symptoms.

  1. Sleepiness

Another sign that your body doesn’t handle carbohydrates well is if you feel like you need to nap after eating a meal high in carbohydrates. Furthermore, this may be accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, mood swings, or even headaches.

  1. Anxious

Consuming a large quantity of foods that are high in sugar can, in general, be linked to experiencing feelings of stress. However, because your body has trouble digesting it, you may start feeling anxious even if you eat just a little bit of it. This is because your body cannot properly break down the food.

  1. Nausea

Nausea and dizziness can also be indicators. Foods that frequently contain hidden sugars include processed salty snacks, sweet treats, dips, salad dressings, instant oats and pasta sauces. Always check the ingredients listed on the packaging to avoid unwanted digestion disruptions.

  1. More Cravings

Particular cravings are another indicator that can be confusing. People who have a carbohydrate intolerance may crave them more than others. Your desire for something sweet could, however, be due to other factors. Changes in hormones or a lack of specific nutrients in your body are two examples.

Besides this, it’s possible that eating too quickly and swallowing a lot of air while doing so will make you gassy as well. The need to burp may be a sign of an unhealthy eating pattern. But if you have flatulence along with any of these other signs, it might be time to start paying more attention to what you eat.
