How To Keep Your Favourite Pair Of UGGs Shiny As New

Winters are long over in the Great Southern Land, and the pleasant winds of spring have begun to blow. It’s time to keep your sweaters and coats in the trunk and preserve your chic UGG boots properly for the next round of winters.

While UGGs are not everyone’s style, they are indeed here to stay. If you are one of the people who love them and the comfort it brings along, then you must also know how to care for them appropriately.

Here are 8 ways that you can do so!

  1. Water and stain-repellent works like a magic

The minute you step in your UGGs, they are easily prone to dust and dirt. The easiest way to keep them clean is using water and stain repellent!

You can even use this treatment before the shoes get any stains on them since dirt will likely seep into the material, and cleansing them would be hard then.

  1. Don’t put your UGGs under a heating source

The colour of your UGG boots is very easy to fade away, especially if you put them under the sun, an electric heater or a radiator. It causes the boot’s leather, suede or sheepskin to become brittle and dry.

  1. Water is a no-go too

If you let your UGGs out on a day when the outside world is engulfed with melting snow, the water will soak into the material. It causes ugly water stains and will leave your boots out of shape.

Moreover, it will weaken the adhesives under your boot’s sole, slowly making them unwearable.

  1. Only use a soft brush

With water and repellent, you also need a soft brush to dig out the dirt stains from the boot’s material. Using any wire brush that’s stiff or coarse can leave some harsh scratches, which would remain for a lifetime.

  1. Don’t use cleaning products on the boots directly

Always make sure that you are making a cleaning solution which you then apply to the UGGs with a cloth or sponge. If you pour the watery mixture on the boots, it can create some stains or splotches.

  1. Only wear your UGGs in favourable weather conditions

Although it seems like a tempting idea to wear UGGs, especially the classic ones, on even the worst weather days – do not do it. These boots are not created for a hiking trip, bad rain, or snow day.

Please do not wear them during activities that can plausibly dirty them or lead to scuffs or scratches.

  1. Always store your boots when completely dry

When you leave your UGGs to dry out after washing them, ensure that every inch of them is dry. Do not try to fasten this process by putting them in the shoe rack when they are still damp. It could lead to the growth of moulds inside the boots, which would inadvertently damage them.

  1. Say yes to socks

It’s good practice to wear socks along with your UGG boots. It will ensure that no body odour lingers on your shoes.

On the other hand, if you cannot resist the fuzzy feeling of UGGs, at least use the odour absorbers after every couple of wears. You can easily create an effective mixture at home with some cornflour, baking soda and a drop or two of essential oil.

Wrapping up

A pair of UGGs can cost around $120-$300 for an adult size and $50-$150 for a kids’ size. So, if you are going to spend so much on a pair of boots, it might as well be prudent to care for them properly.

Always follow the tips mentioned above and advice to keep your UGGs clean and wearable!
